What Happens in the Eternity Trailer?

The movie trailer introduces us to a woman named Joan, who, upon her death, finds herself in “the junction”—a waystation for souls where she must decide where she will spend the rest of eternity. She is greeted by her afterlife coordinator, who explains the rules of this new existence. The story gets more interesting when Joan meets her two dead husbands again: her first love, John, who died in a war 67 years ago, and her most recent husband, Larry, who just died.

The trailer sets up a strong emotional conflict because both men want Joan’s love and try to get her to choose them for life. Larry’s character tells Joan that “eternity is a long time to have regrets,” and John’s character says that all he wants is to be with her. This shows that they both feel very sorry and are very devoted to each other. The teaser does a great job of building tension by showing quick shots of the three characters in different emotional states. The last shot, where Joan is asked if she has made her choice, keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.
